About Us

Our Mission

Shortwood Past Students Association was established in October 1991, to first be a role model to current students, support a network of former graduates who will help to raise awareness and bring together like-minded individuals, and to support the school financially. We have continued over the years to provide practical support to the school, students and keep abreast of their achievements and accomplishments and needs.

Our Vision

Our goal is to continue to be a vital stakeholder in the success of Shortwood Practising & Infant School. We want to feel valued by our alma mater, welcomed by it, as we continue to support them.

To whom much is given, much will be required (Luke 12:48).

Our Stake

We are in pursuit to sustain and enrich the school's legacy as the "school of choice" in the community.

Our 2025 Goals

Library

Reading is fundamental and we understand that the students enjoy reading; so our mission is to procure reading books and other materials to the school library. This year, two past students were instrumental in donating various types of books to the school, which was a blessing.

STEM Lab

Completion of a state-of-the-art Stem Lab for the students is still in progress. We want to engage the students to get ready for a STEM career at an early age. The STEM Program will build confidence and enhance critical thinking skills in the students.

We worked with a Carpenter to build 2 Robotics Table Toppers and workboards, 24 stools and 6 tables. We also donated 12 laptops. However, the Lab still needs tablets, laptops, storage bins, cupboards with sink, laminated whiteboard, STEM kits and other materials.

The school has a very dedicated teacher, Mr. Hewitt, who is astute in running the STEM Lab. The students competed in their 2nd Robotics Competition in May 2024.

Classroom Furniture

The classrooms need lots of upgraded furniture, such as desks, chairs; overall the school needs laptop computers, large TVs, a photocopier and projectors for classroom presentations.
